“We are pleased to be able to satisfy the increasing market demands in PO
pipe production by means of our long-proven and successful single-screw
concept", said engineer Hector Moreno, CEO of the Mexican subsidiary of
KraussMaffei Berstorff. “On the rapidly growing Mexican market we are
seeing higher demand for HDPE pipes for many different applications, for
example smooth pipes or corrugated pipes", added engineer Moreno. From
a process technology standpoint, the series with the 36 L/D long processing unit offers a wide variety of advantages. For example, the machine can be used for all current polyolefins, but also for special materials such as PE-RT or polybutenes. The barrier screw concept guarantees an optimal mixing operation in the shear and mixing zones of the screw. Thermal nonhomogeneities are reliably prevented; consequently, the producer achieves optimum homogeneity of the melt at a simultaneously lower temperature and can therefore manufacture an end product with perfect quality. The long processing unit increases process reliability and minimizes wear. The processor also benefits from a long service life of the extruder because the concept optimizes pressure flow continuously and therefore keeps the wear rates low. The KME 45-36 B/R model is very interesting, especially on upand- coming markets for new entrants on account of its excellent priceperformance
ratio.
