Chinese automotive component suppliers are increasingly relying on German engineering expertise in order to attract global automobile manufacturers with high parts quality. The Munich-based manufacturer of plastics and rubber processing machines therefore recently doubled the production area at its plant in the Chinese city of Haiyan.
The preparations are in full swing so that the complete production and assembly of large machines "Made in China" can start in spring 2014. "We are noticing this trend and adapting our customized machines to the needs of customers," said Frank Peters, Vice President Sales at KraussMaffei. One of the first injection molding machines to be supplied completely from Haiyan will be an MX 1300-8100 for Yanfeng. This machine will be equipped with the new MuCell® system, a process for physical foaming of plastic parts. This process makes plastic parts up to 35 percent lighter than comparable parts. Global cooperation agreed
The well-established Chinese manufacturer of automotive components inspected the machine portfolio of KraussMaffei at "K2013", the world's largest plastics trade fair, and ordered a first injection molding machine produced in China. General Manager Shelley Wang from Yanfeng and Peters also agreed further global cooperation between their companies in the area of processing of thermoplastics and duroplastics. Discussions concerning other machines are currently being held. The Group has been using injection molding machines from KraussMaffei for many years.
