Cylindrical roller thrust bearing and tapered roller thrust bearings are separable and can carry heavy axial loads. Furthermore, they are stiff and insensitive to shock loads, and they require little space. They are single directions bearings and can only accommodate axial load in one direction. Their main use is in applications where the load carrying capacity of thrust ball bearing is inadequate .
